Backgrounds- (5 points)
Is close friends and still maintains regular contact with his religious studies professor (Professor Prince) who
he considers his mentor and friend. He sees Tony, his friend and a pastor at a church in chicago as one of the
most admirable people alive. Tony spends his time working at food banks, giving to the poor, and crusading for
social justice.
Stefan makes his living writing nonfiction works on religion and philisophy (which barely pay the bills). This
is supplemented by his military stipend of $520 per month.

Bloodpool: (10 points)
Freebie Points: 21
Flaws/Merits: 7 maximum (4 freebies total--3 more freebies from Flaws)
Merit--Common Sense (1)
Merit--Code of Honor (1) Stefan has a strict code of honor to act ethically and morally.
Merit--Faith (5) It is Stefan's deeply held faith that dictates his code of honor. His study of philosophy and
theology has formed how he thinks. If, upon evaluation he believes something to be consistent (or conversely
inconsistent with his faith) his attraction/rejection of it is much more likely. His faith aids him when he is
facing a situation that challenges it. (i.e. severe persecution, evil, etc..)
Compulsion (-1) After his wife died, Stefan went through a period of loneliness. Because of his love for her
(he basically idolized her) he has trouble recognizing that women are ase capable of subterfuge, dishonesty and
ulterior motives as men. Because of that, he is almost compelled to believe that what they are telling him is
true. (Unless it obviously conflicts with his code oh honor). Because of this naive outlook, he is more easily
manilpulated by females.
Soft-hearted (0-I didnt give myself credit for this one, as it is primarily directed toward children) After he
came face to face with the brutality of war and held the body of a child killed by a landmine, Stefan is
tortured when he sees suffering, particularly in children. It nearly paralyzes him with grief, though he can
act swiftly if it is to protect another child, or to prevent further suffering.
Lost True Love (-1) When Stefan's wife died he felt like something broke inside. Stefan's willpower suffers
severely if someone plays on his deep sorrow for the loss of his wife. (see dark secret for additional
explanation)
Dark Secret (-1) His worst and deepest fear is that he is somehow responsible for his wife's death. Her broken
body was found in an abandoned alley several miles from their home. He was home late that night. He had
stopped to have a late dinner with an old college friend. When he arrived at home the door was broken open and
his wife was gone. Her body was found by the police later that night. He believed that had he come home when
he normally did, she would still be alive.
History: Stefan spent 6 years in the armed forces. His knack for using a rifle led to him joining a sniper
unit. The killing started to affect him though and he had a harder and harder time pulling the trigger. One
day, he froze and could not finish his target. After a debrief, a courtmarshal and a removal from his unit, he
was allowed to work as the assitant to the medical corpsman. It was there that he began to see the true horrors
of war. When he returned home after his tour of duty he was changed. Gone was the brash yound confident youth,
and in his place was a thoughtful reflective man. After receiving his degree in Philosophy and Theology using
the GI bill, he moved to Las Vegas. There he met a beautiful, charming and intelligent woman who, to his
delight, thought he was pretty swell too. They had a whirlwind romance, a beautiful wedding in Hawaii and a
wonderful life...for two years.
When she was murdered he put together a slideshow of her life, honored her at the funeral, hosted the reception
and smiled sadly, tears occasionally tearing at the corner of his eyes as his family and hers gave their
condolences. When the service was over he went back to their apartment and wept like a child. His sorrow did
not fade in time, it seemed to deepen. Though his tears have tried, the dull aching pain threatens to overwhelm
him at times. Often he goes to the cemetary and lays down right next to her grave just so he can be with her.
Still, when his friends or family mention her, he smiles, the joy of her memory temporarily overshadowing even
his great grief. His postgraduate studies online in religion and the occult provide a welcome diversion.
