Some lives are simple, and pleasant...full of family gatherings, 9-5 jobs...and just happy memories. Some lives though, are far more chaotic...consisting of nothing but the oddest of events, one right after the other. They can sometimes be called adventurous, but more often or not...the poor individuals who must live them...are concidered misfortunate. Saphryn Sharlows was always one of these poor 'misfortunate' people. Her life from the beginning was never an easy or uneventful thing. She was born on a Korean army base, the birth that would seperate her mother and father for definates. From birth she felt cursed to destroy the lives of the others around her. It was simply a fascination with all that was around her, and learning things that kept Saphryn from simply curling up to die. Moving many times in her childhood, from one army base to the next...and so on. She got to see different places and even learned a few different languages, which she still uses today. The world is a large and fascinating place for a child, especially when that child never truly has definate roots to which to connect. She simply learned to live with her mother's constant moving...and having her brother there with her to talk to and watch over her, was helpful too.
Saphryn learned about different cultures at a young age, just by traveling around the world with her Army mother. It gave her an insight that would eventually help her in later years in her adventures. She would spend sometime out with her mother, when her mother was off work, just roaming the cities. There was a particular time, that an old lady had stopped them on the streets of Rome. She knelt down before Saphryn, and inspected the young girl. Saphryn's mother had narrowed her eyes, trying to protec the young girl...but no harm was ever done. The woman said instead that Saphryn was special. That one day she'd understand these words...but time was not yet. She told Saphryn that she must remember that life and death are wound around each other...one needing the other. That time held all things together. Although Saphryn did not understand these things just yet, it would eventually be the pull that drew her back to visit the old woman and spend time learning a few things she had not yet learned.
Now obviously a bit unsettled, Saphryn's mother took the girl back home to rest awhile. That had been an odd meeting, but it hadn't been the first. Saphryn had been subject to other such oddities in her earlier years that child had been to young to remember. It didn't bother her mother to much, as odd things did occur at times, but she didn't like how much it bothered Saphryn or left her confused. This would be just the beginning of the odd meetings in Saphryn's life. But Saphryn would never pay much heed until later in her life, when she would retrace many of her steps to discover some of the mysteries in reality.
Now...Tragedy would strike the heart of the young girl at the age of eight. Her entire world would be flipped upside down, and thus would begin the steps towards learning the truth. Saphryn, her brother, and her mother were all on their way home one night...when the car hit a patch of ice. It was an accident, one that would kill her only loved ones and toss Saphryn into an odd series of odd events. The car had tipped over the side of the road and found itself crashing through ice into a lake. Saphryn by some strange luck had managed to survive the accident. She had washed up on shore just about the time people arrived, coughing and shivering. They wrapped her in blankets...and it would be a few days before Saphryn was finally shipped off to live with her father.
Now to truly understand the rest of Saphryn's life...you'd have to understand her father...and many of the reasons behind the divorce of Margrette Sharlows and James Markest. James was a big corporate business manager, big time money...and had little time for kids and things. He and Margrette had gone to school together, fallen in 'love' or so they say...and had gotten married. The boy had been troublesome to James...but not overly a problem. Margrette had managed to keep the boy with her during the time...it was 6 years later...when Saphryn was born that things became a problem. James had just finally gotten his dream...and gotten to the top of a big business. He was bringing in all sorts of money, and when Margrette told him she was pregnant, he'd begged her simply to rid herself of the child. To have an abortion...Margrette...who hoped it was a girl had been devistated by his words. The man she fell in love with was no more, he'd been replaced by a greedy son of a bitch who wanted nothing of her. She had a feeling he was having an affair with a younger woman anyway. So she filed for divorce. James let her have the children, as she had made a deal. She'd take none of the money...as long as she got the children. The money had spoken louder then revenge to him, and so thusly...he agreed. Thank the stars really...
So Saphryn was shipped off to her father, who was not entirely happy about it. But as his boss loved kids and figured a family man was better suited for certain jobs, James had given in....simply to keep his job and perhaps better his position. He had of course remarried, although the woman was a girl 10 years his junior...a new movie star with golden locks and pretty boobs. She was the perfect poster wife for the corporate businessman. She took an automatic dislike to poor little Saphryn. It was a year that was spent in hell before the little actress finally got her way, refusing to have sex with James ever again if he did not send the troubled little deviant off to a boarding school. Nine years old now, with an odd obsession for death and darkness, Saphryn was sent off to a boarding school for girls in England. She would spend many years in these walls.
Saphryn, nine, was now in a new world where they punish you for being an odd little child, and try to teach you that God is one and all. This of course did not set well with Saphryn, as she may have been nine...but she was wise way beyond her years...and with enough free thinking and intellegence not to believe in God anymore. What kind of a God would allow the two most important people in her life be stolen from her by nature's wrath. So in a way Saphryn brought forth much hell from the sisters of the school. Not only for her disbelief in God, or her obsession with death...but also because of her quiet unfriendly nature. Everyone wanted Saphryn to make friends...be a happy little child. Instead she spent most of her free time in the library looking up everything she could on Death and Life. She did make one friend...a year after being sent to the school. Another little girl named Emily Masters. Emily had a great flare for life and all things in it...bubbly as all hell and not quite as bright as Saphryn but intellegent enough to keep up conversations and a friendship with the dark and slightly disturbed girl. They were quite the contrast of characteristics to be honest. Saphryn and her dark mostly calm demeanor against Emily's bubbly energetic personality. Their friendship would be one of the few good and constant things of Saphryn's life. Emily would often accompany Saphryn in her wild and weird scheme's to contact the dead. At 12 Saphryn tried the whole contact the dead in a graveyard thing. Didn't really work out the way she wanted, but she was to stubborn to give up. Strength of conviction was something she inherited from her mother.
Spring break came about, and Saphryn spent it with Emily at the huge Masters estate outside London. They would spend time in London doing very odd things. Buying books on Death and contacting the dead, buying a ouija board...and even visiting a medium. They did this every break they got...or any freetime they could muster up. Saphryn's obsessions with death would stem off into singing, writing, and even art work...of course to the dismay of the sisters. They were trying hard to bring light into the dark girl...but none would be allowed in. Saphryn prefered her obsessions to death then to be preached about God. Saphryn was however top of her class, no matter her deep oddities. She was also slowly blooming into a beautiful girl. Raven hair and such odd light blue eyes, with exotic but beautiful features. Her body toned out a lot giving her curves only adding to her appeal. When she was 16 her father called her home for a spring break...mostly to use as another trophy. What better way to gain support from sick rich men then to trump around with your beautiful daughter. However, one good...err well good at the moment thing happened at that particular spring break...Saphryn met her first boyfriend, Michael Romanesco, there. They spent a good few days just hanging out and what not before Saphryn shipped off back to school. She made sure to call him and write frequently, as she couldn't visit. It was to long a flight from England to California for one weekend. Emily muchly detested the boy, but she stuck by her friends side through everything. Making sure that Saphryn knew no matter what, they would always be friends. Two years they spent dating, with either herself or him visiting the other. Saphryn thought it was love...but she'd be vastly mistaken in her assumptions. Finding out later on in the relationship.

Eighteen came with a graduation from the girls school, top of her class and the 'pride' of her father. My heavens his little girl had gotten him bragging rights for more power. Saphryn hugged Emily goodbye for now, and headed back home. She had arrived unexpectedly and surprised not only her stepmother....but also her...boyfriend in bed with each other. Saphryn had bolted from the house, with a very naked Michael following after her, but she was to fast for him. Broken hearted she stayed out most of the night, only coming back when she knew her father would be there. She screamed and called her step-mother terrible things, and even told her father about the things her step-mother had done. Of course...her father didn't believe her. He told Saphryn to leave if she was going to fabricate such stories. So...Saphryn left. Using the last of her money she took everything that was hers and went to live with Emily.
A year she lived with Emily working in a small little cafe to earn enough money by which to survive on her own for. It was at this particular small cafe that she was confronted by a strange man. He stopped and stood there staring at her for a long moment, making Saphryn very unnerved. Finally he spoke..."You look just like her" She of course was confused out of her mind by what he was talking about. He went on to say. "You look just like your mother." A little worried and a bit curious Saphryn asked if he knew her mother...and he replied with..."Not in this lifetime of hers." She just kind of blinked at him, more confused than ever. He beconned her to come sit with him, a little reluctant at first but she finally did. He told her about life and death...and the world of the spirits. She was definately intrigued...but also a little wary. She went home that night to talk to Emily about the occurence that she had. Emily looked skeptical...so Saphryn had agreed to find a new place of work. It was shortly after changing her works...to a recently started bookstore that Saphryn began to have bizarre dreams and hear voices. It would only occur at times, and Emily swore her friend was losing her mind. So Emily insisted that Saphryn go talk to a shrink about her 'dreams'. Saphryn did as she was told....and the doctor gave her pills to take saying that they were simply reaccuring memories from her childhood trauma. Saphryn...was funny about taking the pills. She didn't feel right when she was on them...so she threw them away. It was three months after she'd met the man that he finally found her again in the bookstore...strangely enough on the anniversary of her mother and brother's death. He began talking to her again...and told her she was special too. She had no idea what he was talking about...but listened anyway. He told her if she wanted to learn about what made her special that she'd come study with him.
Six months she studied with him, learning about the ways of the world of the dead. She learned how to focus her special gifts and discern the strange voices she heard. Learned how to see the dead...He taught her about life some too. Gave her a few skills because to understand life was to truly understand death as well. She learned mostly how to heal herself and read others life energy. At the end of six months he told her to go on, that she had more paths that lied before her. She had yet other teachers to come her way and much more experience. He called her a Hollow One for she had awakened herself...and even in some ways taught herself to do a few things...but that even the Hollow Ones needed some direction. She didn't understand the Hollow one bit or even what he meant by the awakening...that would eventually come later.
So she was 20 now, and ready to go back out in the world. She had saved up enough money to travel some. Emily insisted on supplying Saphryn with an allowance, as long as Saphryn promised to keep up with her creative side of life...and not forget about her (Emily). With a smile and a hug the girls parted ways for now. Saphryn out on her search for answers and guidance...Emily on her search for a husband and family. Saphryn's travels first took her back to Rome where she'd met that lady oh so many years ago. Old and greying now the Lady was more then glad to be of service to Saphryn...saying she was such a beautiful girl and had so much destiny before her. Everyone seemed to love saying such cryptic things to Saphryn who would not begin to understand for some time yet. She spent another six months with the woman...learning to understand her dreams...and to understand life even more then she had as well as time and what purpose it had. In some ways it really did help her understand death.
She was once again sent on her way to find a new path to walk on. Always she followed her heart letting it lead her to where she had to be. She found herself in India...training there learning patience and concentration. Studying with Buddhists for nearly a year learning many of their ways. She even travelled with a few friends for awhile. Trading tricks really to keep them entertained while they travelled with her. 22 by now...and still not yet any closer to true answers then she had yet been. She found herself in a new place studying amongst shamans...and natives. She was now actually travelling with a documentary study group. While they did their filming one night, Saphryn had gone to a river to draw. There she sat waiting patiently for something to come by to draw. It was this still concentration that drew the Shaman to her...and well there were many other reaons. Mainly that he knew she was special. He sat down besides her and looked at her. "You seek death, but it was the spirit mother who gave you another chance at life. Why do you not take that new chance at life?" She'd not quite understood this...sitting there with an expression of shock. How had he known? "The Spirit mother speaks to me in many ways. Why do you not take the new chance she has given you?" It was a long silence before she finally answered but I am. I am learning that of life and of death...of many things. I am doing what feels right to me. It was the answer he was looking for. For he had to know if Saphryn truly understood. With a smile he offered to teach Saphryn many things she did not know. But she had to remain here...with him for however long the spirit mother requested. She agreed, not truly understanding why this man had so easily made her willing to leave everything behind...to stay here. For the first year...he taught her things of Death she'd never known before...and much of life she could not have gotten from anywhere else. He taught her of nature and the forces that lied there...and even how to concentrate a little to control it. He taught her of the animals and everything around her. The second year they got more indepth with the training...and finally one faithful night when he felt she was ready. He sat down with her...and told her they were finally going to travel the spirit world. Saphryn was worried but also very excited. It would be a fascinating thing...and a new experience. And Oh how it was! Her first experience was almost overwhelming...but over the course of months...he helped her learn how to do it. Finally one day...he told her that the spirit mother had said it was time for her to go on.
Saphryn was slightly disheartened to be leaving as this man had become like a father for her. He gave to her a few valuable gifts for her journey on this life. With a simple hug goodbye...Saphryn travelled back to England. There she met up with Emily who had an adorable little girl and wonderful husband. Emily was so happy to see her friend, but Saphryn knew this wasn't where she was meant to be. She talked Emily into helping her buy a bookstore. She named the bookstore Pandora's Box...to represent her life. A box full of terrible things...but even beyond all things horrible...there lied a hope waiting to escape. She opened it up in Mexico City...as this felt like the right place for Saphryn to be. Saphryn still studies about death, learning all she can from books and what not. She now also keeps a journal of her dreams, knowing in them lies answers that she has not yet been able to decypher. She got one new tattoo to add to the others she'd gotten over the course of her life....this one was but a symbol. A reminder to herself of the shaman. She even painted a picture as another chapter in her life written and closed. For each person she had met on the way that had helped her, Saphryn had painted a picture. It was her pictorial of her life thus far. She recently recieved a call from her father, who had finally tracked her down...seeking money. He'd lost everything in the divorce of his sweet little movie star. Saphryn refused...closing for final that as of yet to be closed chapter.

Side Notes:
Saphryn's Business: She owns a bookstore called Pandora's box in Mexico City, but she also does sales over the internet world wide...which she sells more then just books, but also all sorts of specialty needs and other things she's come up with...and some of her artwork. Her business is well known and well respected, its really Saphryn's life and pride. She's always polite and sweet to everyone who she does business with. Treating them as she would friends, but always holding herself at a distance. She's mysterious which usually draws attention and sometimes even crushes her way. She did hire two little teenage girls to help her around the bookstore...they're names are Elizabeth and Maria. She pays them a more then fair wage, but they do help her and she conciders them both wonderful girls.
Saphryn and the Masters Family: Emily conciders Saphryn like a sister to her, and a very important person. She'd do anything to make sure Saphryn was well kept and safe. Which is why she started the allowance which she still continues today. She helps Saphryn keep up with things, and makes sure that her best friend stays with her art and music...to Emily that was one of the few things that ever got Saphryn out of her shell. The Masters had pretty much concidered Saphryn like their own daughter, as Saphryn spent much time with them. Saphryn was sent to the same extra curricular classes and training that Emily was. Sent on the same vacations and even treated like a daughter. They understood her oddities and loved her despite them. They were the family Saphryn yearned to have again, and that she found once more years after losing her brother and her mother. She still stays in contact with them, writing letters and visiting when she can. They make sure everything is going good with her every month with a visit to her home in Mexico City.
Saphryn's Villa: Designed by Saphryn herself, but insisted on by Emily. Saphryn was just going to live in some little house, before Emily had insisted that Saphryn have a play of her own kind of out of the way. Nothing's to good for the girl. So she designed her own house, making sure to have a place for her her art and music....and definately one for all her more peculiar practices. Its her sanctuary...and one thats rather out of the way. She never gives her home address to anyone...call her paranoid....but she's got some very valuable assets in that house that would be devistating to lose.
Jake: Jake Travest was hired by Saphryn's father years ago when she had been sent to live with him. Jake was to watch over Saphryn...a sort of body guard for what Saph's father called...a good investment opportunity. When Saph was sent to europe, Saph's father Sent jake there too...just to watch over her. Make sure Saphryn didn't get into any trouble. Jake only stayed a year though before going to find his own way in life. Their paths would meet up again in Mexico City.
